“Darom 2023” campaign

On Saturday, 28 April, two national initiatives took place in Lithuania – the National Forest Day and the “Darom” campaign – inviting people to plant a record area of forests and to rid nature of litter.

According to the Ministry of the Environment, this year’s reforestation campaign was the most massive ever. A record 748 hectares (ha) of new forests are expected to be planted, with more than 2 million trees of different species – birch, alder, spruce, pine and oak.

Meanwhile, this year’s “Darom” campaign encouraged people across Lithuania not only to collect waste, but also to sort it and deliver it to regional waste management centres.
